A Proactive Approach for perating and Maintaining PRVs Workshop 

Of all of the seminars, webinars, and workshops that provide fragmented information about how to operate and maintain water distribution system assets, few offer specific information vital to the effective management of PRVs. Some present on the value of these components, some focus exclusively on their maintenance and operation. There are others that present viable options for the rehabilitation and/or replacement of these important assets. This workshop concentrates on the essential procedures necessary to effectively operate, maintain, repair, replace, and troubleshoot PRVs.

This half-day workshop offers information vital to understanding PRVs presenting the following topics:
• The value and importance of PRVs within the water distribution system
• The essential processes necessary for operating and maintaining PRVs
• A mechanism for determining the frequency of required PRV maintenance
• Tools to assist operators in properly evaluating the condition of PRVs
• Assistance to the operator to develop “Best in Class” O & M procedures for PRVs
• Procedures to troubleshoot problems associated with the operation of PRVs
• Processes essential to confirm the reliability of PRVs and their components

2. Identifying an effective assessment approach to valves.

3. Establishing an effective maintenance, repair, and replacement schedule for system valves.

4. Documenting the valve operation, maintenance, repair, and replacement effort to benefit the utility.

Effectively Maintaining Water Distribution Systems-A two-day workshop identifying the value and importance of appropriately managing water distribution system programs presenting the following topics:

1. The importance of water distribution system programs.

2. The process of developing effective programs.

3. Assessing the condition of distribution system assets.

4. Establishing effective schedules for the maintenance, operation, repair, and/or replacement of critical distribution system assets.

5. Coordinating and responding to regulatory agencies.

6. Appropriately documenting the efforts of work teams.

Each of these workshops is equipped with small group discussion exercises intended to appropriately engage the participants to demonstrate their competence in the subject matter presented. Some of the topics within the workshops overlap and can be modified based on the desires and needs of the requesting agency.


Initial assessments and discussions are recommended to identify the following:

1. The specific needs of the requesting agency.

2. The knowledge level and expertise of the crews, work teams, and processes.

3. The identification of internal subject matter experts to assist in the development of identified procedures as necessary.

4. The procedures necessary to assist the requesting agency to achieve their desired level of operation.


ABOUT US

KCM Consulting Services, LLC has been providing the following services since 2000. Aiding municipal agencies in the use of Vulnerability Assessment processes and the development of Emergency Response Plans for water and wastewater systems. 

Assisting water providers and municipal agencies in the evaluation of existing infrastructure to develop programs for the enhancement, effective operation, and maintenance of these systems.
